Last Day in Colton, and up another mountain!

We’ve had a busy week, with packing and cleaning. Still, we’ve managed to stay (mostly) sane. We even had a going-away picnic at our place after church on Sunday!

After packing up our wonderful place in Colton, we headed for Rochester via the Adk’s. In doing this, stopped by Piercefield and to the top of Kai’s second mountain, Mt Arab. He loved it! (as did we!) Poor Kai, though…he’s going to be convinced that all mountains have fire towers on the top of them! :)

Mt Azure

Today we went hiking to the top of Azure Mountain.
It was fun...and while it wasn't Kai's first mountain
(there was the one we climed to the top of in Sri Lanka last July),
it was the first mountain that Kai has helped climb!

After descending the mountian, we went canoeing in the St Regis.
We don't have pictures of that this time, though.

Paddling again

We went paddling yet again today, this time at Tupper Lake!

We're getting better at remembering the camera too!

We've been doing a LOT of canoeing lately! Today we went to the marsh at Indian Creek Nature Center in Rensselaer Falls. This area's only opened to the public during 2 weeks a year, and we got to paddle it!

Videos: Watching the Fireworks!

I (Mike) didn't realize that this was being taken, here's a little of Kai's reaction to the fireworks!

And for this second one, don't worry...we were in an abandoned parking lot. :)

June: Fireworks...and Firewood??

We went to the Fireworks in Canton last night!!

Also, weather in the North Country never ceases to amaze us. While parts of May contained days in the 70's and even 80's, we've had to start the wood stove up again this past few weeks...it's been dipping down to 30 or below at nights occasionally, all since the beginning of June! It's been an adventure trying to keep up with what the temperature's going to be each night so that we know whether to bring in the plants or not!
